THIS INVOLVED UPGRADING AND REPLACING EXISTING INFRASTRUCTURE OF THE TYNE AND WEAR METRO.

The project involved upgrading and replacing the existing infrastructure / services on a section of the Tyne and Wear metro between Jesmond and the start of a bored tunnel section, through Jesmond station.

THE PROJECT INCLUDED:

Renewal of 447m of plain line track between the Manors Link Line and Jesmond Station177m on the Inbound track270m on the Outbound trackSignificant track lowering scheme with a tight horizontal alignment.100m of non-traditional drainage works installed as part of the track renewalSignificant OLE adjustmentsSignalling worksCable management of power and S&T assets through the extent of the site

The project was quite complex due to the track geometry, location of the works, access restrictions and short time scales for project mobilisation and delivery. The client was also very keen to minimise disruption to the metro operation and services.

TXM Rail, acting as Principle Contractor delivered the works on time, to a high standard and without any accident or incident on site.
